Drinking Water Treatment

Media Filtration Systems

For as long as human existence has needed water for survival, our ancestors have found methods to purify it, usually through filtration. Filtration is the process of removing suspended solids from a liquid using a filter medium.

AOP is the premiere manufacturer of media filtration systems for all types of water supplies. Our filter designs have been purifying water for so long, that we pre-date even the US EPA. Our many years of experience designing and building water treatment systems has provided AOP with the knowledge and experience built for your success. Our specially designed filters remove:

Arsenic – Iron – Manganese – Radium – Hydrogen Sulfide – Turbidity – Bacteria – Viruses – Microscopic Particles – Chlorine – Taste and Odors – pH Correction – And More!

Specifications and Drawings for your project are only a phone call away.

All AOP Filtration System Components are NSF 61 approved and safe for potable drinking water standards.

FilterKing Packaged Plants

Developed in the 1960s unitized packaged plants offer a small utility an economical method for groundwater users to aerate, chemically oxidize the water and finally filter out the suspended metals all with 1 piece of equipment. Over the last half century AOP has perfected the unitized packaged plant design. Our AOP FilterKings offer more capacity than our competitor’s design along with more accessibility for easier maintenance to the critical components of the system. AOP has designed and built hundreds of packaged plants across the eastern United States.

All AOP FILTERKING System Components are NSF 61 approved and safe for potable drinking water standards.

Aeration Systems

Aeration is often a crucial first step in filtering out minerals such as Iron and Manganese. AOP uses customized aerators designed to maximize oxidation and minimize maintenance.

Our line of aeration products include: Open Gravity, Induced Draft, Forced Draft, Induction and Pressure Aeration.

All AOP Aeration System Components are NSF 61 approved and safe for potable drinking water standards.

Ion Exchange Systems

Back to our historical roots. AOP has mastered the process of softening water. Our ion exchange softeners include the best ASME code tanks in the industry; including 1” thick baffle plate with top and bottom inspection ports. Our systems also include independent brine distribution, automatic regeneration and a dependable hard water blend, if desired. Whether you are looking for 10 GPM or 10 MGD, AOP water softeners are designed and built to provide you with soft water for many years to come.

In addition AOP also works with specialty resins designed specifically for unique applications such as Nitrate Removal, Radium Removal, Arsenic Removal, Uranium Removal and PFAS Removal.

All AOP Ion Exchange System Components are NSF 61 approved and safe for potable drinking water standards.

Pelle-Flo-S (Softening)

AOP’S PELLE-FLO is a targeted mineral extraction technology with Zero Liquid Discharge. In a softening application, the Pelle-Flo-S softens the water by crystallizing calcium salts in concentrated, self-dewatered, often reusable pellets.

This technology ELIMINATES the permit issues and environmental impacts related to Ion Exchange, Nan-Filtration and Reverse Osmosis brine water disposal.

Developed first in Europe in the 1970’s, fluidized bed reactors (FBRs) have become increasingly popular across the globe for industrial and municipal water treatment. The AOP Pelle-Flo utilizes field proven technology that has processed millions of gallons of water throughout the world for half of a century.

All AOP Pell-Flo System Components are NSF 61 approved and safe for potable drinking water standards.

Nanofiltration/Reverse Osmosis Systems

Nanofiltration and Reverse Osmosis are both high pressure membrane technologies that efficiently remove unwanted salts from feed water. While they are very similar, they distinguish themselves from one another based on the size of the particulate that they are able to remove. AOP began working with RO systems in the early 2000s. Since that time, we have several Industrial clients and a few public water supply clients that utilize membrane technology in their treatment process. AOP also offers membrane cleaning and routine maintenance service for NF/RO systems. If you believe your application warrants the use of one or both of these technologies, call and speak with an AOP application engineer today.

All AOP NF/RO System Components are NSF 61 approved and safe for potable drinking water standards.

AOP Opti-Flux (Ultrafiltration System)

AOP Opti-Flux systems utilize Thermally Induced Phase Separation (TIPS) PVDF membranes. TIPS membranes provide the highest permeability, mechanical strength and chemical tolerance of any membrane in the industry. AOPs integrated skid design removes fine particles, bacteria, viruses, giardia, cysts and turbidity.

All AOP Opti-Flux System Components are NSF 61 approved and safe for potable drinking water standards.

Custom Chemical Feed Design

AOP has purified millions of gallons of water from thousands of different water sources. Our chemical engineering staff can help you with the what, when, where and how much of chemical water treatment enhancement. Our on-staff operators know what works well and what does not, we use their real-world experience to design and customize chemical feed systems that will produce compliant drinking water safely and with as little maintenance as possible.

Custom Controls / Telemetry / S.C.A.D.A

AOP will design and build custom controls specifically for your process with consideration to cost, automation requirements, future expandability and maintenance.

Our programming professionals work across multiple platform brands and we have the knowledge and expertise to design, build and install any type of water treatment control system. Are you looking for automatic or semi-automatic operation? Do you want to operate it locally, across town or across the country? Whatever you need, AOP will use our experience to make it happen.
